No Diving Signs for Pools
There is always a basic risk in hurling oneself headfirst into anything—you know—investments, relationships, walls. Of course, when it comes to bodies of water some of us harbor a particular urge to go ahead and do it anyway. The water beckons. The thrill, the rush, and maybe the danger are all part of the desire to take a leap. But pools are, of course, deceptive. That glassy flat top belies that the shape underneath almost never is flat. And water distorts depth. It plays tricks on the eye. It may seem that you have enough room to execute a dive, but better judgment would prove you wrong. Make it crystal clear that diving is not allowed and/or where it is not allowed. Don't let someone go looking for a reason to blame their injury on lack of signage. Better yet, help keep them from getting injured in the first place. No diving signs are generally short and to the point. You may want to include a graphic to really send home the message. Remember that No Diving reminders are not only needed for part or all of your swimming area, but also in the vicinity of high surfaces near your swimming area like sheds, fences or roofs. Nothing is a buzz kill to pool time fun like a neck injury. Post those signs, and everybody can know the rules for having a great time. |
